Looking for something fun to do with the family outdoors, that doesn’t cost a fortune, have you considered a sculpture trail?

Throughout the UK lots of cities partner with charities to place a number of sculptures throughout the city and surrounding area, with a map to locate them all.

You can find all the information below for the ones that have been announced for 2023 and some for 2024, but there are trails added all the time, so don’t forget to keep checking back to find sculpture trails near you.

Herd Of Hope

Location : Spitalfields Market London

Walk amongst the 21 life-sized bronze elephants and get to know the real-life orphans that have inspired this installation. There are 20 orphan elephants in total, each featuring the name of the elephant they symbolise along with a scannable QR code allowing you to watch their rescue videos and directly support their rehabilitation journey.

Coronation Benches

Sculpture Trails

Location : Tower of London and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens

Fifteen Coronation benches have been designed by schoolchildren across the UK, inspired by the values they wish to define the new era of King Charles III. They will be brought to life in collaboration with artists.

During the coronation celebrations, fourteen benches have been displayed at the Tower of London and one at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens in Northern Ireland.

The Trail will run from May – End of September 2023

Elmers Art Parade

The Elmer trail at Petworth, Feb 2023

Location : Petworth House and Park, West Sussex

Explore the gardens and discover ten individually designed Elmer sculptures, inspired by the work of well-known artists from across the world.

Including Yayoi Kusama, William Morris and JMW Turner, along with the original patchwork Elmer by David McKee.

Collect your free map at reception and follow the winding paths around the garden to search for Elmer on this creative and colourful sculpture trail.

The Trail will run from 27th May – 3rd September 2023

Location : Lincolnshire

The HeART Trail has been created by St Barnabas Hospice, a valuable local charity offering free compassionate care within our community.

2022/23 is an important milestone as St Barnabas celebrates 40 years being at the heart of the community as their local hospice.

Caring and supporting thousands of people across Lincolnshire, with bases in Louth, Grantham, Spalding, Boston, Gainsborough and Lincoln.

It only seems fitting to expand the trail to cover key areas including Skegness and the coast where tourism is at an all-time high in the summer months

Morph’s Epic Art Adventure

Location : London

In the summer of 2023, an extraordinary, free public art trail and tourist attraction is coming to London providing a stunning must-see attraction for all to enjoy – and you’re invited!

Morph’s Epic Art Adventure in London is the UK’s first step-free art trail of its kind, hosted by Whizz-Kidz, the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users, consisting of 56 super-sized sculptures of much-loved children’s TV character Morph.

The free family-friendly art trail will span across iconic London landmarks including St Pauls, Tate Modern, Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market.

The Trail will run from 19 June to 20 August 2023

Buckingham Swan Trail

Location : Buckingham

Buckingham Town Council are excited to introduce the second temporary public art sculpture trail which will run throughout the summer holidays of 2023.

The Swan Trail is a family friendly, feel-good project that provides a free community led activity for everyone to enjoy!

Tortoise Takeover

Location : Jersey

Tortoise Takeover is an island-wide, public art trail that will bring together every part of Jersey’s community and in turn, protect some of the most threatened species on the planet.

In the summer of 2023, dozens of uniquely designed tortoise sculptures will take over Jersey’s wild places, coastal vistas and urban hangouts as ambassadors for all the work that Durrell undertakes with reptiles across the globe.

The Trail will run from 1st July to 31st August 2023

Bristol Unicorn Trail

Location : Bristol

A magical trail around Bristol landmarks. A whole family adventure around Bristol and selected locations in the South West collecting selfies at different custom painted Unicorns, painted by many local artists.

Celebrate summer along the Unicorn Trail in brilliant Bristol! The unicorns will be spread across Bristol and the South West- from the Clifton Suspension Bridge to Weston-Super-Mare pier.

The Trail will run from 1st July to 3rd September 2023

Leeds Bear Hunt

Location : Leeds

From 1st July 2023, more than 50 giant Bear sculptures will hide in plain sight for ten weeks on the streets and within the parks of Leeds, highlighting iconic spots and hidden gems, whilst engaging with our local communities.

The bears will be bringing Michael Rosen’s iconic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt story to life. The trail will be taking visitors on adventures around the city’s open spaces for ten weeks.

The Big Hop Trail

Location : North East Scotland

From July to September in 2023, the new trail see around 40 hares adorning the open spaces of Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

The aim is to not only raise awareness and funds for the charity but also celebrate their 40th anniversary.

The sculptures will celebrate the charity’s work supporting those affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends.

The Trail will run from 2nd July to 3rd September 2023

Herd In The City

Location : Southend-on-Sea

The art trail will see more than 40 large elephant sculptures dotted around the city, including Shoeburyness and Leigh-on-Sea.

Alongside these will be ‘mini herds’ of baby elephants, adopted and decorated by a school or community group, making art accessible to all.

Each unique, individually designed, elephant and baby elephant will be part of the spectacular outdoor art trail.

The Big Dog Art Trail

Location : Swindon

More than 30 larger than life balloon dog sculptures – the Swindogs – are going to be unleashed across town for the biggest and most colourful event in Swindon in 2023.

Shaun The Sheep On The Tyne

Location : Newcastle


In the summer of 2023, a new exciting, free public art trail will add colour to the streets, parks and public spaces of Newcastle and its surrounding areas– and you’re invited to join the fun!

Newcastle city centre and surrounding areas will be transformed by the arrival of 50 super-sized sculptures inspired by the much-loved star of film and television, Shaun the Sheep. Located alongside some of the city’s most iconic landmarks

Croydon Stands Tall

Location : Croydon Town Centre

A brand new art trail is taking Croydon to new heights to celebrate the London Borough of Culture.

Decorated by local artists and communities to celebrate Croydon’s cultural diversity, a herd of Giraffe sculptures will form a free 10-week art trail of discovery for locals and visitors to explore and enjoy.

The Trail will run from 28th August to 31st October 2023

Shaun The Sheep By the Sea

Location : Brighton & Hove

Join them for a baa-rilliant art trail featuring much-loved children’s character Shaun the Sheep and his friends during Autumn 2023.

Visit over 40 individually designed sculptures displayed around Brighton & Hove’s streets, parks and other public areas

The trail will run from 9th September to 5th November 2023

Scotties By The Sea

Location : St Andrews and the north east Fife coastline

Scotties by the Sea is designed to celebrate the communities, culture, and creativity of Northeast Fife.

Whilst also raising money for Maggie’s Everyone’s Home of Cancer Care – working locally and nationally providing free cancer support and information in centres across the UK and online.

The trail will run from 1st September to 12th November 2023

Sculpture Trails Planned For 2024

March Of The Elephants

Location : Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield

For 10 weeks the streets and parks of Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield, will be home to a series of intricately decorated elephant sculptures, each designed by local, regional and national artists, designers and illustrators – both well-known favourites and newly emerging talent.

The Trail will run from 1 July – 1 September 2024
