Alpaca Encounters

Location : Hillfield, Allendale Road, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46 2NJ

Visiting alpacas is becoming one of the most popular activities right across the country, with trekking possibly the most common.

At Alpaca Encounters they do things a little differently introducing you to the full breeding herd – but more on their terms.

They focus the encounters on visiting the alpacas in their respective paddocks, giving you the chance to learn about them and for you to enjoy being around them in their natural environment. All of the visits are bespoke to your visiting party.

Barnacre Alpacas

Location : Turpin’s Hill Farm, Heddon-on-the-Wall, Newcastle upon Tyne NE15 0JX

Everyone gets their own alpaca on a rope and halter and you go for a guided gentle walk in the private grounds, over fields and through an ancient woodland.

The walk is about a mile over easy terrain and lasts at least an hour. The alpacas love their walks because they get to eat new grass and you feed them carrot slices (that are provided).

It’s highly likely you will also meet the sheep, Angora and pygmy goats, chickens, donkeys, hares, roe deer, cats, many birds and any other creature you happen across!
