Graveley Fruit Farm
Location : Graveley Fruit Farm, Graveley, SG4 7EH
Graveley Fruit Farm is part of a larger arable farm that has been in the same family for four generations.
The fruit-growing side was started in 1981 and has steadily evolved over the years. In 2009 we put up two acres of polytunnels, enabling top-quality fruit to be picked whatever the weather.
The fruit is grown on a ‘Table Top’ system, with the fruit presented at waist height, making it easy to pick with no more bending.
All the fruit is available as Pick Your Own. The cafe serves teas, coffees and light snacks and ice cream.
They have a large children’s adventure play area including a zip wire and a haystack, and the play area is overlooked from the cafe. So Mum and Dad can relax with a cup of tea while the kids let off steam.

Parkside PYO
Location : Hadley Road, Enfield EN2 8LA
The same family has been farming at Parkside Farm since 1938, when it was a mixed dairy and arable farm.
They first grew strawberries for Pick-Your-Own back in 1979 on a fairly limited scale (i.e. 4 acres), but have subsequently added many other fruit and vegetable crops. The total PYO area is now close to 50 acres with about 20 different crops grown!
A crucial element to growing these crops is access to water for irrigation. They built theirr own reservoir in 1983, together with an extensive network of underground mains. They subsequently added more complex drip irrigation systems, which can be controlled from the farm.
Over the years their fruit and vegetable crops have also benefited from the generous use of farmyard manure (courtesy of their own cows in the past and now their neighbour`s cattle), which greatly helps soil fertility, and ultimately the quality of the produce.
In recent years they have invested very heavily into producing strawberries on a “Table-Top System”, which means you can pick without bending down!
The plants are grown in troughs filled with peat, supported by a steel structure, and crop for 1/2 years.
When the plants are finished, the troughs are emptied out onto the fields and incorporated into the soil.
All of the strawberry production is now on this system. We also utilise different varieties and techniques to spread the harvest.

Pearce’s Farm Shop

In 1982 they started to sell their own fruit and veg from a shed in the field and they have steadily built up an award-winning business which now provides a wide range of quality fresh produce and fine foods.
They have expanded to accommodate ever more exciting produce, but always sticking to their roots of selling good fruit and veg and supporting local suppliers wherever they can.
They have been growing strawberries and raspberries since 1978.
They also have an excellent pick your own that makes a fun family activity during summer months. They also harvest their own Asparagus, which is in season during May and June.
The PYO strawberries are not quite ready yet, keep checking their facebook page for updates.
